  • Reminder: Timely Import Documentation Required to Avoid Delays and Fees

At Transitainer WA, we’re committed to ensuring a smooth and compliant customs clearance process for all our clients. A key part of that process is receiving import documentation in a timely manner.
To comply with Australian Border Force (ABF) requirements, we must lodge customs entries and, where applicable, cargo reports within strict timeframes:

  • Air cargo must be reported at least 2 hours before arrival
  • Sea cargo must be reported at least 48 hours before arrival

These timeframes are outlined under Section 64AB of the Customs Act 1901 and supported by the Customs Regulation 2015.

Failure to report cargo on time can result in significant financial penalties—up to $2,700 for individuals and up to $8,100 for businesses per incident.

While the majority of our clients provide documentation promptly, there are occasional instances where delays in receiving documents lead to late cargo reports. To mitigate the risk of penalties and ensure we can continue delivering reliable service, Transitainer WA will now apply a $20 fee in cases where late documentation causes delayed cargo reporting.

We appreciate your ongoing cooperation and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions regarding required documents or reporting deadlines.

Thank you for your attention and support.
