Fremantle Bridge Update – Progress Rolling On

We know it’s been a hot topic across the supply chain, so here’s the latest on the Fremantle Traffic Bridge:

Current Development & Progress
Since closing on 1 February 2026, works have moved into full construction mode, including:

• Removal of sections of the old 1939 bridge to make way for the new structure
• Installation of all major bridge beams, marking a key milestone in June 2026
• Bridge deck construction now around 80% complete, with final pours scheduled shortly
• Upcoming works include barriers, surfacing, sealing and asphalt to prepare the road for use

The structure is well advanced, and the project is steadily shifting from heavy construction to finishing works with current estimates for reopening toward early 2027.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts
While progress is strong, the traffic story hasn’t changed much:

• Around 20,000–24,000 vehicles per day have been forced onto alternate routes
• Stirling Bridge remains the primary pressure point, with peak congestion continuing to build
• Flow-on effects are being felt along Stirling Highway, Canning Highway and key freight corridors
