Taxing and demanding industrial strikes have culminated on a positive note as DP World has secured an in-principle four-year agreement with the Maritime Union of Australia, facilitated by the Fair Work Commission. DP World has expressed its gratitude to all who have backed them during these challenging times.
This development comes as a massive relief to the logistics and shipping sector which has struggled a lot to secure a better position for themselves. This development would promise stability and improved operations.
The agreement supersedes the older contract that expired in September 2023. The newer agreement aims to create better provisions with improved compensation, next-level safety measures, and efficacious fatigue management along with upscaled job security and work-life balance for employees.
DP World has expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the Fair Work Commission, different government entities, industry groups, all-size enterprises and the customers who supported them during the negotiation phase, underlining its commitment to revitalising and improving supply chain functions across Australia.
“We are now focused on moving forward, restoring the supply chain operations, and working collaboratively with our employees to rebuild confidence among our customers and make a positive impact on the national economy”. stated Nicolaj Noes, Executive Vice President at DP World Oceania.
