“The Albanese Government will commence negotiations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a trade agreement (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement), in the new year.

The UAE gives entrance to the region and beyond with two-way goods and service that has a value of $9.26 billion in 2022. The UAE is a renowned marketplace for Australian goods and services exports that incorporate alumina, oil seeds, and meat. It is also a gateway to education as it has three Australian universities with campuses in the country.

A trade agreement with the UAE opens up new commercially meaningful opportunities for Australian goods and services exporters who look forward to broadening their trade. It is also a great opportunity to strengthen the cooperation in our mutual objective to transition to net zero through greater inputs.

The government of Australia is devoted to in-depth consultation and all-inclusive engagement with stakeholders and the community to inform the negotiations. We uplift all the parties who have an interest in offering submissions in writing with an emphasis on specific hindrances to trade and investment that an Australian UAE trace agreement can address.
